made by akb requires a minimum of 4–7 days’ notice for most custom orders.

while we may occasionally accommodate last-minute requests, a rush-order fee may apply depending on availability and production capacity.

for wedding cakes, we highly recommend placing your order at least one month in advance to ensure availability and adequate planning time.

no, made by akb does not offer fully fondant-covered cakes, as it does not align with our signature style of work. our designs focus more on elegant, refined, and modern finishes that can be achieved without fully covering cakes in fondant.

fondant-covered cakes also significantly increase the overall cost of a cake, and in many cases, the fondant is removed and discarded. we would rather invest that value into quality ingredients, craftsmanship, and the overall taste and experience of the product.

however, you are always encouraged to share your inspiration photos with our team. even if your reference includes fondant work, we are happy to creatively reinterpret the design in a way that aligns with our style. fondant may still be used selectively as a decorative medium for accents, detailing, toppers, or smaller design elements.

all custom orders are created based on your requested theme, colours, inspiration photos, and overall vision while still reflecting made by akb’s style of work.

reference photos are welcome and encouraged, but exact copies are not guaranteed. every cake is handmade, so variations in colour, placement, florals, textures, and details may occur.

yes, made by akb does offer select egg-friendly, nut-friendly, and gluten-friendly options. however, availability may vary depending on the product, season, and production schedule, so we always recommend confirming with our team before placing an order.

all products are prepared in the same facility and kitchen environment, meaning cross-contamination is possible and the complete absence of allergens cannot be guaranteed. while we do our absolute best to accommodate requests and handle products with care, made by akb is not an allergen-free facility.

at this time, made by akb does not specialize in vegan or dairy-friendly products, though limited options may occasionally be available in-store or seasonally.

made by akb is not halal-certified at this time, however we always aim to be as transparent as possible about our ingredients and processes.

the majority of our products contain pure vanilla extract, which uses alcohol during the extraction process. in baked products, the alcohol largely evaporates during baking, while traces may remain in non-baked items such as mousses, whipped fillings, and cheesecakes. many of our muslim customers are personally comfortable with pure vanilla extract, as it is widely used throughout the baking industry and in most bakeries that are not specifically halal-certified. however, we always encourage guests to make the choice that best aligns with their own preferences and beliefs.

only a small selection of our products currently contain pork gelatin, primarily select tromp l'œil pastries and mousse items. the majority of our menu does not contain pork gelatin, and our team is always happy to clarify which products do.

made by akb is currently transitioning away from pork gelatin in these items, with the change expected to take effect by summer 2026.

full payment is required to confirm all custom cake and specialty orders. orders are not considered secured or added into our production schedule until payment has been received.

for wedding cake orders, a signed contract along with a 50% non-refundable deposit is required to officially secure the booking and event date. the remaining wedding balance is due no later than 7 days prior to the wedding date. failure to complete the final payment by the deadline may result in cancellation of the order or incur late fees.

yes, made by akb offers delivery within calgary and surrounding cities including airdrie, chestermere, cochrane, and more. delivery fees start at $20.00 calgary-wide and may increase depending on distance, order size, setup requirements, weather conditions, and availability
